FG OKAYS UDISMARTCITY, PROMISES INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP.
15th January 2021 would go down in the history of Udi lga as a day the Federal Government through the Honourable Minster of Foreign Affairs (HMFA), Mr. Geoffrey Onyema visited UdiSmartCity HQ to commend the Chairman for his people-first administration and with specific applause to the UdiSmartCity Initiative as well as intimate the Mayor of workable partnerships with some European smart cities.
The HMFA, also a great son of Eke town in Udi acknowledged Udi lga and the Chairman on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari for being the first cadre of government in Nigeria to design and implement a strategic roadmap towards combating the dreaded COVID19 in March 2020.
He further noted that the Mayor’s selfless disposition to governance shows a positive hope for the youth and wished him higher leadership opportunities.
The Mayor, Hon. Ifeanyi Pascal Agu was full of gratitude receiving the HMFA to Udi on behalf of the State Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, the government and people of Udi.
In his speech he stated that the purpose of TheUdiSmartCity is not to build sky scrapers and dig oil wells, but to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life by ascertaining that every facet of government is functional thereby enabling local area development which would lead to smart outcomes.
The HMFA accompanied by the Mayor, thereafter commissioned several solar-powered street lights donated by Kwusike Foundation to the UdiSmartCity. Some members of the Mayor’s cabinet were also on hand to receive the HMFA, they include the Deputy-mayor, Supervisors, SPAs, Resident Consultants and SSAs. Also present were SAs and EAs, including members of the patriotic UdiSmartCity Youths.
The HMFA’s visit would go down as very timely because it came at a period when partnerships and collaborations are key to stability and sustainability.
