In the course of very many years of existence -through several regimes, terms and administrations – as Udi Local Government Area, the 1st of May 2021 is fondly remembered for heralding a peculiarly remarkable paradigm shift.
On the 1st of May 2021 Udi Local Government Council led by Chief Hon Ifeanyi Pascal Agu, held a novel Summit – Udi Local Government Economic Summit titled “Udi Economy Beyond Statutory Allocation”.

It was our date with destiny as a Local Government Council. Our characteristic hospitability was put to test as we hosted very many Distinguished individuals. 

As the Veteran Jika Attoh notched the moderation, in our company were the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Jideoffor Onyeama, Fmr Minister of Defence, Agriculture, Aviation and Power, Chief Mrs Fidelia Akuabata Njeze and Fmr. Minister of Power, Ven. Professor Chinedu Nebo, Deputy Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, representing Udi North State Constituency Rt Hon Uche Ugwu, Member Representing Udi South Rt Hon Chuka Eneh, Hon Commissioner for Cheiftancy Dr C.O.C Egumgbe, GM Enugu State Housing Development Corporation Chief Chukwuemelie Agu, SPA to the Governor on Finance Dr Paschal Okolie, Captains of Industry as the Veteran Real Estate Doyen Rev. Ugo Chime and Chief Engr Osita Ngwu (RG), Body of Udi L.G.A. Fmr Council Chairmen, President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Representatives of the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, the academia and Royal Fathers, to mention a few.

This 1st ever Economic Summit by a Government at the local grassroot level, proved that the progressive Leadership of our Dear Governor Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, is reflective in the identification and employment of the square peg – Chief Hon Ifeanyi Pascal Agu in the square hole – Udi Local Government Area.
The Summit was a huge success. 

Two months after the successful Summit, the swift and efficiently productive government of Udi, won’t let the dust settle. The Udi L.G.A. Economic Summit Committee after sifting through the summary records presented by the rapotuer, recommended that a Committee to implement the communique be set up.

The foregoing led a listening Chief Hon Ifeanyi Pascal Agu to once again play host to some Udi’s finest individuals on the 26th day of August 2021. This was for the inauguration of Udi L.G.A. Economic Summit Implementation Committee to be Chaired by Eminent Rev. Ugo Chime. Members of this committee are – Rev. Surveyor Ugo Chime – Chairman,
Engr Osita Ngwu – Secretary,
Dr Paschal Okolie – Member,
Ven Professor Chinedu Nebo – Member,
Chief Chukwuemelie Agu – Member, Hon Arinze Chilo Offia – Member, Professor Ed Nwobodo – Member,
Chief Mrs Juliet Ibekaku – Member and
Hon. Chibuzo Aniekwe – L.G. Liaison.
Without an iota of equivocation or tergiversation, the current administration of Udi Local Government Area daily inches ever so progressively in a deliberate approach towards excellence.

The August afternoon of 26/8/2021 was a gathering of moderating Chief Hon Ifeanyi Pascal Agu – Executive Chairman of Udi L.G.A, Chairman of Enugu State University Teaching Hospital Management Board – Brilliant Professor Ed Nwobodo, Humble Real Estate Doyen – Rev Ugo Chime, SPA to the Governor on Finance Dr. Pascal Okolie, SSA to the Governor on Project enlightenment and development, Hon. Chibuzo Aniekwe, Fmr. L.G. Transition Chairman and SSA to the Governor, Hon Obi Onyia and members of Udi Local Government Executive Committee. It was meant to be simply an inauguration ceremony but it ended in yet another Economic Summit. We witnessed a seamless harvest of great and priceless economic, social and political ideas from very highly placed successful individuals of Udi origin. 

Confessions came at the end of this session that a host of the audience, had just spent the best two hours of their lifetimes.

Udi L.G.A. Economic Summit Implementation Committee headed by Rev. Ugochukwu Chime was inaugurated by The Executive Chairman of Udi Local Government Area, Chief Hon Ifeanyi Pascal Agu on Thursday 26/8/2021.

The Chairman implored the Committee to apply their respective thorough and admirable experiences, in improving the lives of our people through this medium.

The committee accepted the responsibility through its Chairman Rev. Ugo Chime and promised to ensure that all engagements towards achieving the set goal will be taken very seriously. 

As a government, we are pleased with the progress made so far and vehemently assure our people that the best is yet to come.
