The Odyssey to salvage a people continues

Yesterday, as a modest convoy snaked its way up the hilly woodlands of the far flung Oghu Community in Udi, lots of the dwellers of the neighbouring Communities looked on in bewildered contemplation.

Well the convoy was that of the Chairman of Udi LGA, Chief the Hon. Ifeanyi Agu

We may recall the last visit of this Chairman to this particular Community on the 22nd day of November 2020, which was heralded as the first in 21 years since an Udi LGA Chairman had visited the town.

A widely reported passionate appeal from a delegation of the rural women had prayed the Mayor to assist the Community in providing facilities for their Health Centre. They had told a story of a pregnant woman who had died in labour as she was being taken to a hospital in far away Affa Community in a mere wheelbarrow as the only convenient means of transportation.

This new visit therefore was a visit of fulfillment. A promise kept by a man who listens and remembers.
The Mayor and his entourage had in tow, a donation of divers facilities to be used in resurcitating the moribund Health Centre.

A provision of beds and bedding, mosquito nets, solar powered lights, and first aid kits were delivered to the excited Leaders of the Town.

The Mayor in doing this expressed his commitment to continue to do his best within the limits of available resources, to deliver democracy dividends to all Communities in the LGA. He further advised them to ensure the safeguard and appropriate handling of the equipments.
