MOBILISING THE SECURITY APPARATUS OF GOVERNOR IFEANYI UGWUANYI FOR EFFECTIVE OPERATIONS; THE SUCCESS STORY OF THE UDI LGA FOREST GUARD UNDER THE IFEANYI AGU ADMINISTRATION.

The Enugu State Forest Guards was setup by the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon Dr Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi to stem the ugly tides of kidnapping and other associated crimes that prevented our people from accessing their farmlands and engaging in sundry activities.

The effectiveness of those deployed on this task is often hinged upon the level of coordination, motivation and support of the LGA Chairmen.
In Udi LGA, the Chairman, Chief the Hon. Ifeanyi Agu had prioritised this cooperation with this arm of our State’s security architecture to good effect.

A case in view is the most recent kidnapping that occurred on 11th of October 2021 at Awhum pipe line.
Working in active cooperation with the Forest Guards, they were able to rescue four of the kidnapped victims and recover their vehicle on the same day of the incidence, leaving two other individuals in the hands of the kidnappers.

These two would later be rescued with uncommon precision after a successful night ambush of these gallant Forest Guards.
They all have happily been handed over to the Nigerian Police Division in 9th Mile.
These rescued victims were on their way from Benue State to Onitsha in Anambra State. Among them are one Mr Benjamin Cooker and Mr Accura, who works with NTA in Onitsha.

One of them who spoke to us was full of praise for the courage and gallantry of the Forest Guards and appreciated the Government of Udi LGA and the State for the efforts in setting up and mobilizing the Security outfit.
